Situated in Flat Bush, just south of Auckland’s central business district, Ormiston Hospital stands as the sole private surgical facility within the Counties Manukau area. Established in 2008 and conveniently positioned near Middlemore Hospital—Auckland’s largest public healthcare provider—it plays a vital role in delivering specialized medical care to the community.

To address the rising demand for healthcare, especially in elective endoscopy services, the hospital recently completed a major expansion. The project significantly increased the facility’s capacity, adding 4,500 square meters of new space. Key features include a dedicated endoscopy unit with three procedure rooms, 15 new patient beds, and 900 square meters of consulting suites, all designed to support both current and future needs.

The new wing integrates smoothly with the original structure through a connecting bridge. Its contemporary interior design prioritizes functionality and comfort, incorporating natural tones and timber accents to foster a soothing and inviting environment.

From the outset, the project team collaborated closely with the client to overcome construction challenges. Meticulous planning ensured a seamless and safe connection between the existing hospital and the new extension, all while maintaining uninterrupted operations. Prefabrication of timber frames further streamlined construction, keeping the project on track.

By maintaining clear communication with neighboring sites and upholding stringent safety standards, the expansion was completed with minimal disruption to staff, patients, and visitors. The upgraded facility now positions Ormiston Hospital to meet the evolving healthcare needs of its community with advanced, patient-centered infrastructure.
